The Lovers by jocarra The Lovers by jocarra
A somewhat abstract picture done for my third year drawing class's final project, in which I'm focusing on creating illusory images that, while depicting one thing, is portrayed as something else.

The Lovers: [link]

Yeah, yeah, I know this isn't really my thing, but I thought I'd give it a try. That, and my art class tends to hate my regular stuff...

These are The Lovers (if you can't see it, the male's buttocks are to the top left, his leg is in the middle, he's bent over and the thinner light shape on an angle to the right is his arm clasped around)... In reality, it's a picture of an ear closeup.

I like this the best of the three, I think, although it looks the worst on the screen. I considered doing more with it, but it actually looks really good with just the charcoal and the paper texture showing through.

Charcoal on heavy paper set with fixative.

interesting way to show lovers, the shades and the contrast are great, but for me this is a strnage art-style still, I know you not like your school works, and I understand you, but these arts never will be my favourites ^^;

*chuckles* I actually kind of like this one in real life. It has a... cloth-like texture. It makes me want to touch it X3 And then it feels kind of funny, because it kind of looks like a guy's butt :b

It doesn't really show up in the picture. You have to see it in real life.

I am still trying to see this... Which is very strange because I'm decent when seeing things in abstract art like this.

Anyway the contrast between the different values are amazing. :heart:

Thanks :3

The large, vertical "column" in the middle left is the guy's leg/buttocks. He is facing away, and bent over to the right. His arm is angled down and to the left, from the top right corner, and clasped around the female's middle (who is in the shadow under him).

Impressive...abstract for sure, though. Contemporary art, huh...reminds me of contemporary dance, which is...well. Weird. But beautiful.

I likes its. *wags*

Yeah. Contemporary stuff is... interesting. Not brilliant or more talented than traditional styles, but definitely interesting :b

Is art class hard ?

It's a lot of work doing something I'm not all that interested in (contemporary art), but it's not HARD. It's different for me, and challenging in its own ways, but I wouldn't describe it as "hard." It's more the mindset that I have trouble with, not the work itself.
