I made it past the eyes and nose x) I like how it's coming along. I love your tutorial. You actually explain things, instead of using just pictures. Thanks so much!

The nose looks great!  And the detail work on the muzzle is coming along well :)  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! I didn't follow the tutorial on this, but I simply used some things I picked up on, such as the nose and the muzzle. It's mainly a blend of my technique and yours. Luckily, I didn't have to constantly glance at this when doing it!

Awww, cute :3  Yeah, doing it "your own way" is usually the best.  Making whatever you learn or techniques from tutorials into something that works for you :)

Thanks a lot for this - I'm really new with the tablet (I have yet to get PS and a new computer too) so everything's kind of frustrating right now... but I'd love to get the hang of drawing my own characters and wolves and fur and eyes and such; how long did it take for you?

Thanks a lot!  This one took a good bit of work, as it was all done by hand without any textures or fancy brushes or anything - around 20 hours, I think?

To be honest, I don't work much with fancy brush settings, so I'm not sure - you'd have to take a look and fiddle with things for yourself.

where can i find a brush that will give me a pointy edge on a single stroke? To have a pointy tip.

Are you using a mouse?  Because otherwise, pen sensitivity should allow you to do that yourself, just by pressing lighter where you want it thinner.

You may unfortunately be stuck with things, then :(  Maybe ask for a cheap tablet for Christmas!  I think Bamboo Wacoms are $100 or cheaper?

that would be 7 times more in my currency at least. Im unemployed and not sure even how tablet and ps work together. And asking my parents to buy it for me only so i would have pointy fur edges would be pretty selfish in my opinion... There should be another way to do this. Nobody appreciates my drawing anyway...
Thanks for communication anyway...

Maybe check out my first fur tutorial?  (it's in my Tutorial folder)  It mostly involves rough blocking, and then smudging - should be doable with a mouse :)  You might have better luck with that?

What if the subject is a dark black..would you just use blues and grays rather than, say, a ton of browns, golds, and creams?

No, not necessarily - black is tough, in that there can be a good number of colours in it (same with white). I'd recommend for maximally realistic fur colours, to avoid using only blues, or only browns - ideally there should be a mixture of both sides of a complementary colour pair.
