Guardian's Sigil

Description

The word 'tripartitus' is the Latin origin for the English word 'tripartite,' both describing a whole comprised of three parts - the story The Tripartitus revolves much around perception and balance.

While one represents wholeness, and two represents polar opposites of any single variable, three represents the solution of the discord created by the polarity of two, resulting in a third dimension of perspective, a middle way of balance, and a new concept of unity.

People have asked what the elements of this sigil represented: The script around the border reads, "of darkness and light" and figuratively defines the polar conflict to be resolved. The circles represent wholes, and come in sets of three - a greater tripartite whole - and link the other elements of the design together, revolving around a centre sigil, representing balance and vigilance. The triangles more literally represent those sets of threes, again found in its own tripartite set, its design inspired by the Sri Yantra, representing the junction and beauty of the three aspects. The three smaller sigils surrounding the centre Guardian symbol represent the three aspects themselves - the human, the beast, and the angel - which, like the triquetras found in each corner, represent the three-fold nature of all things.

Originally designed by hand as an ACEO, then remade digitally when I lost the hard copy. Inspired by the beautiful work of ~Lakandiwa.
