Artist's Comments

A Bateman study of a Great Horned Owl I did in my painting class. Sorry for the poor photograph. I couldn't quite get the colours right, and a lot of the detail was lost in the lack of proper focus... *throws digi-cam in garbage*

Oil on 18x24 canvas. Age 17/18.

Bateman Study-Great Horned Owl by *jocarra reminds me of why birds make such fascinating subjects with his distant glare and rich plumage. Another solid traditional piece reccommended by the Unknown Artists project. (Suggested by `garrit and Featured by !Subversive-imaginati)

Wow!! This is gorgeous!! Jawdrop I seriously thought this was a picture of an owl from the thumbnail view. You really really need to put more of your realistic paintings up. This is just wonderful!

i saw the thumbnail, and said "that looks like robert bateman's painting"...and sure enough, it is in fact, a bateman study

this is going on my favourites list, most definitely, since robert bateman is my all-time favourite artist...and you've made a remarkable reproduction....

i'm very familiar with the original piece, and this is just extrodinary
