Artist's Comments

A play on Bateman's Shadow of the Rainforest, here is Ash perched up in the canopy of the Niyotael. I can't believe I finished it in under five hours! *gasps* Yayy! This has to be one of my better from-scratch digi-paintings so far. Comments and critiques welcome!

WOWZERS!!!!!! you did the whole thing yourself? no imported images?...My hat's off to you. The detail in the foliage is incredible..perfect hi-lights on the leaves..and that BRANCH...*momma-mia*...such perspective and 3demensional shading...I just love the wild cat (panther) too, you've captured the total feline crouch and posture. AMAZING WORK!!!!!

Wowness...I can't think of anything to say apart from that really. I didn't actually see the panther at first, but that is some cool stuff. I'm lovin' it. But not in a McDonalds way...o.0

Actually, I'm surprised this one turned out. I just used a plain round brush and primarily worked with layers of flat colour, then went back over with semi-transparent layers of colour and built up from there. You can kinda see what I mean in the plants to the left - I couldn't get the shading very smooth (takes too much time!) ;)

Thanks a lot :)

*chuckles* I think it was my dear Ash's intention not to be seen. Must mean she's doing a pretty okay job, then! ;)

Hehe, thanks a lot. *laughs at the McDonalds comment*

*LOL* Wow, thanks! I did have a reference, but that doesn't help too much once you get down to the dirty details. Thanks for your compliment on the foliage - that was the part I was most afraid of turning out crummy. I appreciate it :)

definate fave, great shadeing, I love the quality of the panther and the large branch, I believe my cat likes it too, he won't stay away from it ^_^

Wow, great job. I am challenged with scenery, but yours is excellent. My only thought is adding some light tones/highlights to the panther/creature to give it more dimension. It's a stunning piece. Keep it up. :)
